Enthusiastic staff members at BMICH’s International Women’s Day Programme

 

BMICH – Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark organized a special programme at its premises on International Women’s Day to celebrate and acknowledge the many women who contribute to making it one of the most sought after award winning venue in South Asia. The special Women’s Day programme was held with the active and enthusiastic participation of all female employees at BMICH.

“We are delighted to have a strong and dedicated female workforce at BMICH who contribute to our successes on a daily basis, and we admire their courage and commitment to help achieve our goals. BMICH has a unique affiliation with women with two of Sri Lanka’s leading personalities – Late Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the first female Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the world who was also the founding Chairperson of BMICH and Madam Chandrika Kumaratunga, the first female President of Sri Lanka who is also the current Chairperson of the BMICH Board of Management, both being of iconic significance to our country as well as globally” said Sunil Dissanayake-Chief Executive, BMICH in his address.

After the inauguration ceremony, the main speaker Ms. Salome Senaratne – Human Resources Director, ITC Colombo One Hotel & Residences addressed the participants on personality development, how to successfully face challenges, importance of education, leading a healthy life and how to effectively manage time. She also spoke of her life experiences and challenges she faced to reach the pinnacle of her chosen career while successfully balancing her family life which was an inspiration for all.

BMICH is Sri Lanka’s largest and Asia’s very first purpose-built convention center with ultra modern facilities. Recently redesigned, renovated and refurbished, BMICH is South Asia’s Premier Integrated MICE Complex with all the facilities required to host any type of convention, seminar, exhibition, conference or wedding including multi-day international conventions and conferences.

BMICH, Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark, closed the year 2018 with many successes and accolades under its hat including the prestigious Sri Lanka Tourism Best MICE Venue of the Year Award and SATA (South Asia Travel Awards) Gold Award for South Asia’s Leading Meeting & Convention Venue.

The BMICH was privileged to host over 7 Million visitors to its premises while hosting many international and local exhibitions, events, conventions and wedding ceremonies in 2018. BMICH was also the venue of choice for many corporate and public sector organizations to host their events. The Colombo International Book Fair & Exhibition which is an annual event held at the BMICH witnessed over 100,000 visitors each day over 10 days amounting to over 1 Million visitors.

“BMICH is located at one of the most central and accessible locations in Colombo making it extremely convenient for visitors. Our staff, at all levels, are committed to providing a unique experience to our customers as well as all who visit our venues. The BMICH is managed by a Board of Management led by Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as the Chairperson and includes experienced and respected industry leaders from finance, legal and business backgrounds. BMICH routinely conducts social responsibility activities such as blood donation campaigns, assisting schools and engages in industrial waste management.

Set in a sprawling site with 15 well laid out, spacious car parks that can accommodate 3,000 vehicles at a given time and well maintained, landscaped gardens boasting 23 indoor and 12 outdoor venues, BMICH is Sri Lanka’s largest and Asia’s very first purpose-built convention center with ultra modern facilities. Recently renovated and refurbished, BMICH is South Asia’s Premier Integrated MICE Complex with all the facilities required to host any type of convention, seminar, exhibition, conference or wedding including multi-day international conventions and conferences. A well laid out picnic area has been integrated into the facilities as a new venue recently.

 

BMICH Recognizes Top Performers and Longstanding Associates

BMICH, Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark, recognized its top performers and longstanding associates at the ceremony organized to usher in the New Year 2019. Subsequent to the blessings for the New Year bestowed by Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Muslim clergy, the long standing service awards were presented to those associates who completed of 25 years of service by Chief Executive BMICH, Sunil Dissanayake. Thereafter, an award for the Top Associates of the Year 2018 too was presented.

“We have had a great 2018 with many accolades being bestowed upon us as one of the most sought after venues in Sri Lanka and the region for events and conferences. We strongly believe that credit should be given to our very competent and committed staff who played a significant role in helping us achieve these milestones” said Sunil Dissanayake-Chief Executive, BMICH.

The recipients of the 25 years tenure awards were M. Selwamani and S. Neelamegam from House Keeping Division, R. Nimal Rathnayake from Engineering Division and M. Piyasiri Hettiarachchi from BCIS.

BMICH has also won the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) in 2016, 2017 & Quality ERA Award in 2016 and 2017 in Geneva and Paris respectively. BMICH was the winner of the Best MICE Venue in Sri Lanka at the Sri Lanka Tourism Awards 2018.
