BMICH Recognizes Top Performers and Longstanding Associates

BMICH, Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark, recognized its top performers and longstanding associates at the ceremony organized to usher in the New Year 2019. Subsequent to the blessings for the New Year bestowed by Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Muslim clergy, the long standing service awards were presented to those associates who completed of 25 years of service by Chief Executive BMICH, Sunil Dissanayake. Thereafter, an award for the Top Associates of the Year 2018 too was presented.

“We have had a great 2018 with many accolades being bestowed upon us as one of the most sought after venues in Sri Lanka and the region for events and conferences. We strongly believe that credit should be given to our very competent and committed staff who played a significant role in helping us achieve these milestones” said Sunil Dissanayake-Chief Executive, BMICH.

The recipients of the 25 years tenure awards were M. Selwamani and S. Neelamegam from House Keeping Division, R. Nimal Rathnayake from Engineering Division and M. Piyasiri Hettiarachchi from BCIS.

BMICH Engages in Industrial Waste Management

BMICH, Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark, recently organized an awareness programme on industrial waste management for its staff and tenants in order to maximize its contribution to the wellbeing of society by following effective and recommended processes for the disposal of different types of waste generated during day to day operations. The programme was conducted in conjunction with the Ministry of Megapolis & Western Province Development.

“BMICH hosts a multiple number of tenants at its premises and also is the host for many local and international events which attracts thousands of visitors to its premises on a daily basis. This awareness programme is the start of an initiative to implement a more efficient and effective process for waste management” said Sunil Dissanayake-Chief Executive, BMICH.

The Industrial Waste Management Awareness Programme that was conducted with the assistance of an expert from the Ministry of Megapolis & Western Province Development discussed ways and means of sorting waste under institutional level, further segregation of waste for the recycling industry, how to use bio-degradable waste as compost and the ways and means of implementing a total waste minimization program.

BMICH Team led by the Director / CEO, Sunil Dissanayake with the Best MICE Venue Award – 2018

 

The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognizable and iconic landmark won the prestigious MICE (Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions) Award in the MICE Tourism category at the 06th Annual Sri Lanka Tourism Awards Ceremony held on 6th December 2018. The event is organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority to recognize and reward excellence in the Travel & Tourism industry to promote and enhance the delivery of service standards. Sri Lanka Tourism Awards 2018 will also honor the organizations and individuals for their contribution towards strengthening and empowerment of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Each application in each category was subject to a stringent evaluation process consisting of 3 stages to ensure transparency and accountability, and the final decisions were made by a 5-member jury.

BMICH Commemorates its Founders with Blood Donation Campaign

The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognizable and iconic landmark, recently organized a Blood Donation campaign in commemoration and honor of its Founders late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and of former Cabinet Minister and Speaker of Parliament Anura Bandaranaike on their 59th, 18th and 10th death anniversaries. An alms giving was also held as part of the commemoration.

 

“Our Founders were not only committed to Sri Lanka but also to the world. It is our hope that our activities of merit will continue to honor them. Undoubtedly, this campaign will have a very real and direct impact on a large number of people who are in need” said Sunil Dissanayake, Director/CE of the BMICH.

 

With hundreds of well-wishers and BMICH staff signing up, the scope of this campaign was truly unprecedented. Importantly, it also marked the dedication to service embodied by two of Sri Lanka’s greatest national figures, the late S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike – Sri Lanka’s fourth Prime Minister who was widely regarded as an international statesman and the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the modern world’s first female head of state.

BMICH Wins Gold at South Asian Travel Awards in Mumbai

The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognizable and iconic landmark won the Gold Award as South Asia’s Leading Meeting & Convention Venue at the prestigious South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) Ceremony held in Mumbai, India recently. This award is the third regional Travel Award won by BMICH in three years. SATA, endorsed by multinational associations, recognizes the Tourism sector in the South Asian Region based on their facilities and service excellence. The South Asian Travel Awards aims to encourage and raise service standards of the Travel & MICE industries in the region.
