The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognizable and iconic landmark, recently organized a Blood Donation campaign and a religious event in commemoration and honor of its Founders late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and of former Cabinet Minister and Speaker of Parliament Anura Bandaranaike on their 61st, 20th and 12th death anniversaries.

With hundreds of well-wishers and BMICH staff signing up, the scope of this campaign was truly unprecedented. Importantly, it also marked the dedication to service embodied by two of Sri Lanka’s greatest national figures, the late S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike – Sri Lanka’s fourth Prime Minister who was widely regarded as an international statesman and the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the modern world’s first female head of state.

“Our Founders were not only committed to Sri Lanka but also globally. It is our hope that our activities of merit will continue to honor them. Undoubtedly, this campaign will have a very real and direct impact on a large number of people who are in need” said Sunil Dissanayake, Director/CE of the BMICH.

A dhamma sermon preached by Ven Babaragama Somarathana thera of the Sri Jinendarama temple was followed by an alms giving for 15 Buddhist priests held as part of the annual commemoration ceremonies.

BMICH is Sri Lanka’s largest and Asia’s very first purpose-built convention center with ultra-modern facilities. Recently redesigned, renovated and refurbished, BMICH is South Asia’s Premier Integrated MICE Complex with all the facilities required to host any type of convention, seminar, exhibition, conference or wedding including multi-day international conventions and conferences.
