BMICH team with the South Asia Travel Award for the Leading Convention Centre in South Asia – 2020

BMICH – Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark has been crowned as the Gold Award winner in the Leading Convention Center category of the prestigious 2020 South Asia Travel Awards (SATA) competition bringing recognition to Sri Lanka as the premium convention destination in the South Asian region. The SATA Awards Ceremony was held as an online virtual event on 15th December 2020. This is the 3rd time that BMICH has been presented with the Gold Award as the Leading Convention Center in South Asia at the SATA Awards and the 5th international award won by BMICH in as many years.

Previously BMICH was recognized for the International Quality Era Award in Geneva 2016 and Paris 2017.

“We are delighted that SATA has recognized BMICH once again with this prestigious Gold Award as the Leading Convention destination in the South Asian region. Winning this award is not only an honor for BMICH but is an honor to the whole country highlighting our infrastructure and service quality in the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) sector” said Sunil Dissanayake-Chief Executive, BMICH.

SATA, endorsed by multinational associations, recognizes the Tourism sector in the South Asian Region based on their facilities and service quality. The South Asian Travel Awards aims to encourage and raise service standards of the Travel & MICE industries in the region.

BMICH holds Blood Donation & Alms Giving

The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognizable and iconic landmark, recently organized a religious event followed by a blood donation campaign in commemoration and honor of its founders late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and of former Cabinet Minister and Speaker of Parliament Anura Bandaranaike and to invoke blessings and protection of the BMICH, its employees their families and country from Covid-19.

With well-wishers and BMICH staff signing up, the scope of the blood donation campaign was truly unprecedented. Importantly.  Undoubtedly, this campaign will have a very real and direct impact on a large number of people who are in need” said Sunil Dissanayake, CEO of the BMICH.

Chanting of “Rathana Suthraya” followed by an alms giving for Buddhist priests was also held as part of the ceremonies.

BMICH is Sri Lanka’s largest and Asia’s very first purpose-built convention center with ultra-modern facilities. Recently redesigned, renovated and refurbished, BMICH is South Asia’s Premier Integrated MICE Complex with all the facilities required to host any type of convention, seminar, exhibition, conference or wedding including multi-day international conventions and conferences.
