BMICH employees and their families enjoy a number of very special Avurudu activities.

Inviting an auspicious start to the Aluth Avruddha in April, the iconic BMICH recently hosted an expansive and entertaining Avurudu Uthsawaya for its associates and their families celebrating the event featuring over 20 events, including the consistently popular Fancy Dress Parade, Kanamutti, Sack Race, Singithi/Wadihiti Avurudu Kumaraya/Kumariya, Kamba Adeema (Tug-of-War), Lissana Gaha (Greasy Pole) as well as many other traditional Avurudu activities.

The Bakmaha Ulela was enjoyed by associates and their families alike, all tremendously enjoying the festive fun and traditional avurudu sweat meats. Participants were also excited to showcase their competitive spirit and talent.

Chairperson of the Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation (BNMF) HE former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga graced the occasion as chief guest and spent considerable time mingling and conversing with the associates and their families.

Ladies of the BMICH/BCIS and outsourced staff with chief guest Ms. Shiromal Cooray, guest of honor Dr. Lanka Jayasuriya Dissanayake and the Leadership teams of BMICH/BCIS.

BMICH – Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark organized a special programme for its lady staff members to celebrate International Women’s Day an acknowledge the significant contribution by the ladies of the BMICH/BCIS staff to make the institution the most service oriented award winning organization in Sri Lanka.

“We are delighted to have a strong and dedicated lady workforce at BMICH/BCIS who contribute to our successes on a daily basis, and we admire their courage and dedication to help achieve our goals. BMICH has a unique affiliation with women with two of Sri Lanka’s leading personalities – Late Hon. Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike being the first female Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and globally and who was also the founding Chairperson of BMICH and former President HE Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the first female Executive President of Sri Lanka who is the current Chairperson of the BMICH Board of Management, both being of iconic significance to our country as well as globally” said Sunil Dissanayake-Chief Executive, BMICH.

Ms. Shiromal Cooray Chairman/Managing Director Jetwing Travels host the chief guest to deliver a talk on her career progression as a women the obstacles she faced and how she overcome to reach the pinnacle of her career.

Dr. Lanka Jayasuriya Dissanayake Chairperson of Indira Cancer Trust spoke about awareness, detection and prevention of breast cancer and associated treatment and counselling services.
